kira-kira 2 minggu yang lalu, gue lupa tepatnya karena apa, tiba-tiba aja gue kepingin nonton live performancenya .Feast. now, at times like this I am grateful for people who always document anything happening around them. with a simple YouTube search, I found: .Feast LIVE @ Synchronize Fest 2022

dari video itu, gue baru ngeh ada beberapa lagu lama dan baru yang belum pernah gue dengerin. again, with the magic of the interweb, I found all of those songs on Spotify. they quickly become my anthem anywhere anytime I go out. I lost count on how many times I listened to Bintang Aksi Massa and Gugatan Rakyat Semesta while queuing for 2 hours to get in JxB.

sesi mendengarkan yang gue lakukan dalam 2 minggu terakhir bisa dibilang cukup intens. because I go as far as isolating some of those songs to their own playlist just so (1) I can focus to only listen to them and (2) I don’t accidentally listen to Cikini Gondangdia right after (which, respectfully, also another bop).

these intense sessions also made me realise on how, I think, I will be forever biased towards their songs. I can kind of imagine the vibe of Polay discussion that may or may not lead to the songs and the band. I felt the same frustration too as a university student. I spent pretty much the same time around the same period in a similar settings that shapes my perspectives on social and political matters.

I think if my university student self found them sooner, I will have a whole different arch graduating from my degree. or at least have a slight different way in seeing what I did.

although, as the title of this piece suggests, looking back at it, discovering them now also helps to ground myself a little better. their music serves as a way to reconnect with my university years. it reminds me that I too was a little bit more lively back then. I had more thoughts, concerns, and aspirations back then.

in no way that I’m saying those sentences as a way to deny the state of life I’m living right now. if anything, it serves as a portal to revisit the uni-me, the little lively me with more fire in her heart.

likes to romanticize tragedy. because some of the most beautiful things happen at the most unfortunate events.
